Learning about biophilic design

Having grown up in rural Oregon I was surrounded by nature. The forest outside our house, was my second home. My first best friend was the large cedar tree I’d spend hours in. Hiding in it’s branches and sliding down them to surprise anyone standing next to it. Today, I practice yoga regularly and one of the things that keeps drawing me back is the studios... I love the way they feel. Textured walls, natural textiles, exposed wood and living plants... Turns out their's term for this type of interior design - it's called biophilic design.

Biophilic design philosophy centers around the idea that being in spaces that incorporate nature is deeply meaningful to our sense of well-being.

At Epiphany, we have been (unknowingly) practicing biophilic design for a long time. And now, we do it with more attention. We even gave a public talk on the subject and created a guide on it's principles.
